Edward Wilder was born in 1825 and moved with his widowed mother and four siblings to Louisivlle in 1830. When his ediucation was completed Edward joined his brothers, James B. and Oscar, in the wholesale druggist business they bought from the owner in 1838. In 1858 Edward left to go on his own, and he started marketing products such as stomach bitters, sarsaparilla, potash, worm syrup and tonics.
