RO75d E.B. Eddy Proprietary Match Stamp

$35.00

Ezra Butler Eddy was born near Bristol, Vermont, on Aug. 22, 1827, the son of a farmer. He arrived in Hull Township with his wife, Zaïda, in 1854, with Hull becoming a city at his initiative 21 years later. It is generally accepted he was a self-made man who began his business career making matches by hand in a shed rented from Ruggles Wright, the son of Philemon, Hull’s 1806 founder. Little stick, little sulphur — voila — repeat millions of times, so that, within a few short years, Eddy Match was one of the biggest suppliers in the world.
