This die, the only one ever used jointly by two or more parties, was ordered by F. Zaiss, M. Daily and J. Shick, all of Philadelphia, and in Jan., 1866, Mr. E. K. Smith also began to receive stamps from it, taking the place of John Schick, whose last order was delivered in Dec., 1865. It finally became the sole property of Mr. Smith and was altered by the insertion of his name.
